Located about an hour from Medford, Camp Latgawa is a secluded escape tucked inside the Rogue National Forest.
Surrounded by lush creeks and old-growth forests, there’s no cell phone service or WiFi to distract camp visitors from hiking and backpacking trails, archery, sports—and even a heated swimming pool.
One of the favorite summer attractions is a short hike to a waterfall that serves as a natural “waterslide” plunging into a swimming hole.
Camp Latgawa’s Dormitory-style cabins welcome outdoor school groups, summer campers, church groups and families throughout the year.
With support from the Gray Family Foundation, the camp is updating an historic bath house that visitors use. The camp matched the grant with its own fund-raising campaign and is working alongside the U.S. Forest Service, which owns the land the camp sits on, to ensure that the renovations meet state guidelines for preservation of historic sites. When the renovations are complete, the 50-year-old bathhouse—and all visitors who use it—will benefit from a facelift while keeping the historic character of the structure.
