Beginning in January 2025, we are no longer accepting applications for our Outdoor School Grant Program.

We continue to encourage providers, schools, districts to engage with and leverage the funds and grants available via Measure 99 through OSU Extension Service Outdoor School.  If you are a private/independent school and have questions about how other private/independent/charter schools access funds from Measure 99, feel free to contact Friends of Outdoor School or contact staff at the OSU Extension Outdoor School program.

If you are a provider looking to enhance your Outdoor School Program, feel free to review our Environmental Education Grant Program information to check your eligibility.

If you have further questions for Gray Family Foundation staff, feel free to contact grants@grayff.org.

Outdoor School Background

In November 2016, Oregon became the first state in the country to fund a full week of outdoor education with the passage of Measure 99. Measure 99 provided the funding for the ORS 327.390 (SB439), which was passed by the Oregon Legislature in 2015. ORS 327.390 codified Outdoor School into law, recognizing it as an important part of the Oregon education system. Oregon State University Extension (OSU-Extension) is tasked with allocating these secured funds to support this statewide program through grant awards to school districts and education service districts (ESDs).
